Where possible we feel that workshop learning needs reinforcing with practical experiences. Our heritage is ocean yacht racing and we like nothing more than to take a team out in sheltered water and let them have a great day demonstrating high performance team behaviour for themselves.
We have four core products that can be used individually, or combined to form a powerful team development experience.
Online Team 360 Profiling. Developed by London Business School, get to the heart of what makes your team tick. They provide a foundation from which to conduct a Team Development Workshop. Straight talking, pragmatic, lessons from business and sport allow insight and understanding into your team challenges and provide a road map to high performance team behaviour.
A component of the workshop can be a Conference Speech / Motivational Presentation designed to inspire your team. We share the lessons of team development learnt during the 2004/05 Global Challenge Yacht Race – known as the world’s toughest yacht race.
The team can then come down to the Solent and demonstrate high performance team behaviour while Corporate Yacht Racing and Team Building. The team is given a thorough safety brief and overview of the yachts operation. They are then taken out to an area of sheltered water and shown how to sail the boat. In the second half of the day the team is set a challenge, designed to reinforce the lessons of the workshop behavioural review. A typical exercise might be to navigate around a set course, while maintaining control of the boat. Great fun, demanding and thought provoking – issues of leadership, teamwork and communication rapidly emerge!
The consultancy was born out of the lessons of the 2004 / 05 Global Challenge Yacht Race. This race is a truly unique event: 12 yachts, with 17 amateurs and one professional skipper compete to be the first to sail around the world against the prevailing winds and currents. There is nothing that the sponsor can place onboard to make the boats go faster - this 9 month experience is a fascinating test of leadership and teamwork. Two separate business management texts have been written on the lessons of this race.
